Product Description
Mitsubishi is taking Color to a new level with x.v.Color(TM) support and Mitsubishi's Full Spectrum Color(TM). x.v.Color(TM) is the new standard for HDTV and it enables 80% more color than standard HDTV! Mitsubishi's Full Spectrum Color(TM) results in 25% more color than standard LCD. Reds and Yellows become more vivid and there are more available shades of Green, Cyan and Blue resulting in a more vivid and more realistic image. Additional color features such as Color 4D Noise Reduction and PerfectColor(TM) allow for advanced color processing and adjustment. The result is breathtaking realism with vivid, yet natural Color Without Compromise. The 144 Series 46-inch 1080p LCD Flat Panel HDTVs feature Mitsubishi's Plush1080p(R) processing for unsurpassed detail in over 2 million pixels from every source. Mitsubishi's Smooth120Hz(TM) eliminates motion blur especially in fast moving action scenes. With its ultra thin frame, high quality hidden speakers and its ultra-compact design, the 144 Series lets you get a larger screen in less space than ever before! Go ahead and get into the action, immerse yourself. Mitsubishi leads the industry with 3 rear HDMI(TM) 1.3 inputs and 2 rear component inputs for maximum HD connectivity. Additionally, a FireWire(R) interface and a USB Input for up to 5 Mega Pixel pictures allow for easy large screen digital photo viewing. And Mitsubishi's Easy Connect(TM) along with NetCommand makes setup and operation so easy.

Amazon.com Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description Mitsubishi's LT-46144 is a 46-inch 1080p flat panel HDTV that incorporates the latest technologies for more accurate color reproduction and a picture that is more life-like than ever before. This 46-inch HDTV would be ideal as part of a home theater system in a medium-sized room.

With Deep Color technology, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast. View larger. View back panel.

Mitsubishi's Smooth120Hz technology prevents image judder for a smoother image during sports and action scenes. View larger.
Lots Of Pixels In a Small Thin Box
This 46-inch HDTV is just six inches thick but packs in a lot of technology for outstanding performance. Quality speakers are hidden away to maintain a beautiful, minimalist look that takes up less space in your room. The display is 1080p, which means it has the full 1920 x 1080 high definition resolution with progressive scan that is the highest quality HDTV standard today. With large televisions, this is important, as having a dense array of over two million pixels prevents the eye from seeing pixelation, especially at close distances.

The television is able to display any video signal that is connected to it. When a 1080p signal is the input, it is passed through with no down conversion, and the 1080p signal is maintained from beginning to end, giving the best picture quality. When a lower resolution is detected, whether it is 720p HD or a DVD, the signal is automatically scaled to display at 1080p, with minimal side effects and a very detailed picture.

The LT-46144 also relies on Mitsubishi's Smooth120Hz technology that utilizes a 120Hz refresh rate to prevent image judder and create an even smoother image during fast motion scenes.

Vibrant Colors You've Never Seen Before
The LT-46144 incorporates a slew of new technologies that give this television the most realistic color reproduction available on the market today. The new x.v.Color standard is supported and this technology dramatically increases the color space available, with 80% more color than standard HDTV. The television also supports Deep Color, a new standard that incorporates 10-bit color depth versus the previous 8-bit color depth. With Deep Color, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast.

Mitsubishi's Full Spectrum Color is an exclusive system that uses a wide range of phosphors in the LCD's backlight for brighter and more vivid reds and yellows, and more shades of green, cyan, and blue. Along with Mitsubishi's Color 4D Noise Reduction and PerfectColor, you get a wider color palette and the ability to fine tune the set to your exact preferences. The end result is a picture that is brighter, smoother, and more realistic than ever, with colors that have never been seen on a television set before.

Connections Galore
You don't need to worry about running out of connections with the LT-46144. It has a total of three HDMI 1.3 inputs with Simplay HD certification, so you can connect your Blu-Ray player, HD DVD player, and still have an input left over. It also has three component video inputs (two rear, one side), a side USB connection so you can display up to five megapixel photographs on the television, and two rear A/V inputs with S-Video, as well as a Dolby Digital/PCM output and an analog stereo output. Mitsuibishi's NetCommand allows the included partially-illuminated remote to control an entire home theater system.

The LT-46144 is backed by a limited 1-year warranty.

What's in the Box
LT-46144 46-inch LCD HDTV, remote control, two AA batteries, owner's guide, quick reference guide, quick connect guide, product registration card, cable tie and cable clamp, and two-ended IR emitter.

1 out of 5 stars Same problem as everyone else - vertical lines   January 4, 2010

Buyers Beware! The vertical lines kill this great TV. We love the picture when there are no lines and have no issues with the sound, but the lines are a total buzzkill! We bought this TV about a year and a half ago and the lines started apprearing about 35 days after we bought it. 3 vertical lines evenly spaced across the TV. We tried to take it back to the store and they told us we had to go to Mitsubishi. Called Mitsubishi and they told us we had to find a service center. There is not one anywhere near us! At first the lines only appeared after several hours of watching TV and since we aren't home all the time it wasn't too bad. We could turn the TV off for a few minutes and they would go away for an hour or so. But now, we can't watch the TV for more than an hour without the lines and they don't want to go away. I feel like I was totally ripped off.

1 out of 5 stars Defective LCD panel replaced twice   August 19, 2009

We bought the 46" Mitsubishi LT-46144 HDTV because we were impressed with the picture and because we had owned a Mitsubishi big screen TV from before and had trouble free use for over 10 years. So we thought we were buying a top-of-the-line brand and quality HDTV. The picture is beautiful/awesome. Unfortunately, the quality is not. We purchased this HDTV new in on April 21, 2008. Within a few months, the LCD had vertical streaks on both the right and left side. We had to get it repaired, and as expected, they had to replace the LCD panel. It worked fine for another 6 months or so and then the vertical line problem re-appeared. We have now had it repaired a second time as of August 2009 (only 16 months old) and again the entire LCD panel had to be replaced. Thank goodness we bought an extended warranty on the unit or we would have been out about $2,000+. By the way, we also have a second Mitusbishi 52" HDTV (LT-52144) in our house that we bought in December of 2007 and it now also has vertical streaks down the ride side of the LCD. So based on my two purchases, it appears that Mitsuibishi's LCDs for their HDTVs seems to have a quality issue. If it were not for the LCD quality problems, I would have rated this HDTV a 4-star (not 5-star) because the TV itself is great (4 star) but because it was much more expensive than other HDTVs in the same size, I don't think it was the best value (and hence, I would not rate it a 5-star). But because of the quality problems, I'm rating it a 1-star. I would strongly recommend that you purchase an extended in-home warranty if you purchase this model. But frankly, I would recommend that you avoid purchasing Mitsubishi because of their LCD quality issues.

1 out of 5 stars Great, until the line forms on the screen!!!   January 10, 2009

Great picture when there's no line. Not worth $50, let alone $2000 if it's gonna break down this fast. Like previous reviewers, the LT-46144 I bought my father-in-law is now exhibiting a dark-brown 1-inch wide line down the left third of the screen. Shadows of the line appear on either side. We are just now starting to investigate the process of getting it repaired, that's why I'm here. Doesn't sound too promising, but I'll update with our experience.

2 out of 5 stars Beautiful picture for 9 months/Lousy audio/Awful customer service   December 28, 2008

My Mitsubishi LT-134 was beautiful to behold although the sound quality was poor. Then it developed a vertical line on the left of the screen. At first, the thin line was faint; then it became thicker and darker. Now it's black and I have a second line next to it. Mitsubishi was responsive enough, but they had to call three different repair services before one came out to assess the problem. This is after two months of numerous phone calls on my part and waiting for no-shows. Now we are both chasing after the repair guy and nobody's responding; and Mitsubishi seems not to know the status of anything. If this is an indication of how the service people handle their repairs, I'm afraid of letting them take the tv away and being left with no tv indefinitely. I've asked Mitsubishi to replace the tv, but they refuse to commit to a replacement so I've been put on hold watching my beautiful tv with lines running through it. I paid $2,000 for this?

Update: 2/4/09. The repair service finally showed up in January to assess the defect, and three weeks later (after multiple calls) picked up the TV. It was returned a week later with a new vertical line on the other side of the screen and a damaged base. More phone calls, and Mitsubishi still refuses to replace the TV. Now there's another serviceman on the case....

Update: 2/28/09. Mitsubishi finally conceded to replacing my TV, but with a different model which has a glossy frame (a quality I dislike). When the box was opened, it was obviously a returned item: the cables were undone, the protective tape was partly missing, fingerprints on the screen. When the screen was in dark mode, there was a wash of blue light over it. I requested another TV.

Update: 3/13/09. The second replacement TV arrived. The screen was RED and the picture was solarized. Another TV requested.

Update: 3/28/09. The third TV arrived. So far, so good. As I said above, it's a beautiful TV and I think even the audio has been improved.
