Best Bang for the buck and fun too! September 5, 2010 wanderlust (santa cruz, ca) I just received the tv which is fantastic and I finished watching a netflix movie and some videos on blip tv. It is very cool and I really don't know what the fuss about the sound is. I'm listening to it in my bedroom and can hear it in my bathroom across the hall when it's turned up. No distortion. I would say the best bang for the buck and loads of fun with the internet apps. I bought this for my rv so I could watch some programs when I only have wifi and no tv reception.
If you get real creative there is a way to make your phone a wifi hot spot and just use your phones internet connection to allow the tv to connect to stream wifi even when you are in the boondocks with no wifi or tv signal as long as you have a cell phone connection.
An incredible buy September 4, 2010 bpfitzny 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't imagine giving this unit a 2-star hit just because of the sound. Yes, the sound is pretty bad. But the TV excels in EVERY other category. You simply cannot buy any other tv of this quality for this price. My wife and I were looking for a tv for our bedroom and this fits the bill perfectly. I had an old set of computer speakers with a sub and the sound is great now. Even if you have to buy a pair of $50 computer speakers, you still wouldn't find a better deal. If you're in the market for a tv of this size, it is definitely a must buy.
Perfect Portable Streaming TV September 3, 2010 caribis I bought this TV for only one thing: a portable TV to stream Netflix. My main TV in the living room already has a DVD player, satellite box, game console and Roku Player for streaming Netflix. But I wanted a TV for my bedroom and to place in front of my exercise bike. The TV is light, very thin and because it has a wireless LAN the only cord is the power cord. The picture is fine and as everybody has noted the speakers suck. If you want a small TV for wirelessly streaming Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand or Vudu, then I would recommend it. The price of a cheap 22" TV plus a Roku player is basically the same as this TV, so why not? The only odd thing I've noticed is sometimes the TV will turn itself on. The remote is in a bookcase so the dog is not stepping on it and there are no other Irda emitters in the bedroom. I'll just find the TV on some days.
So what would make it perfect, besides the speaker issue you can fix with some cheap computer speakers? A Hulu app would be nice (last time I checked there wasn't one.) An accessory piece of hardware I could connect to my satellite box so I could wirelessly stream video from it to the TV would be great. And if they would sell the bluetooth remote Vizio makes for their bigger Internet App enabled TVs as an extra it would be nice. I think I saw a usb port on the back of the TV, so you could plugin a Bluetooth dongle.
VIzio-No longer the crap brand! August 26, 2010 Chris L (Massachusetts) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this TV for my dorm after a few months of researching. Its really one of the best values out there for its size. The retail price is something like $320, thats frankly ridiculous! I paid $240 at BJ's. The 22'' TV market is really bad. You have on one side the budget Sylvania Models or the "good" brands that cost and arm and a leg. I had always had the impression that Vizio was just another budget brand, but after doing many comparison shopping trips and watching the TV, its clear that Vizio is to TVs as Hyundai is to cars. Hyundai came to the US with terrible quality cars that were cheap. Vizio came to the market with TVs that had a reputation for being cheap. Slowly, Hyundai improved their quality and now are considered an excellent value. Same thing with Vizio. They say 1080p doesn't matter unless its a really big TV, but for the price its a nice feature just knowing its there. As for the sound: I'm not even using this as a factor in my review. Has anyone ever heard the speakers of ANY other flat-panel TV? Seriously. They ALL suck. I have never heard a flat-panel TV with good sound. I have a 42'' Samsung, 32'' Samsung and 19'' Sylvania and all of them have terrible sound. Its just not worth even considering when you're in the market for TVs. After all, you're spending all that money on an HDTV, can't you afford to get a set of cheap speakers?
The internet Apps feature is awesome. I had initially seen the TV and was intrigued, but not really sold because I figured you'd need to plug it in to your router. Then I found out it had Wi-Fi! Needless to say, I was pretty impressed! The Apps are really cool, though I don't see much use in going on Facebook on your TV. The Netflix App is very very useful and works flawlessly.
Seriously consider this TV. Go to your local electronics store and compare it to the other TVs on the wall. Its equal to if not better than the other models.
Great TV with Internet built in August 12, 2010 F. Almond (Wayne, New Jersey United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this for a bedroom tv. Easy to set up. Includes wireless N band internet connectivity. Picture is awesome, but the sound is just OK.
This TV has Widgets that you can add to access various online accounts like Yahoo, Netflix, Pandora, plus more. There is a huge choice of these widgets. You can get your TV program listings even without a cable box.
The stand and control are a bit gimpy. You'll love it. Sam's Club has it for $239 as of 8-10-10.
